More than 400 applications received in the first year of Orange County’s Ready, Set, Orange program

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — As residents in Orange County continue to look for more affordable housing, a program for constructing small dwellings is seeking to make that process a little easier.

The county’s Ready, Set, Orange program allows property owners to build accessory dwelling units, known as ADU, which are smaller units built on the same property as a main home.

Orange County launched the new program a year ago, and in the past 12 months, officials say they received more than 400 applications. One unit is complete, and two others are wrapping up construction…
