A woman was arrested for theft after allegedly putting more than $43 in unscanned items into her cart at the self-checkout in Walmart.
A deputy responded to Walmart, located at 550 U.S. Hwy. 27, Clermont, for a theft involving 52-year-old Nichele Monique Murrell of Davenport at 7:50 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
An asset protection investigator had seen Murrell put multiple items into bags without scanning them at self-checkout. A review of the surveillance footage indicated she moved unpaid merchandise from the checkout counter to a bag in her cart, the report said.
Murrell later admitted to having unscanned items in her possession. She placed them aside to scan later but acknowledged that some were not processed correctly. She had then passed all points of sale with $43.46 in unscanned items, the report said…
