With budgets set to finalize, uncertainty for Orange County homeless organizations causes concern

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Orange County Commission held their first public budget hearing for the 2025-2026 fiscal year where they revealed their more than $8.3 billion dollar spending plan.

And while Mayor Jerry Demings believes this is enough to serve the community, organizations and residents can’t stop talking about the impacts of the 2.6% decrease from the current fiscal modified budget.

The majority of the budget, $1.2 billion dollars, is set to focus on public safety, while a state-mandated $56 million dollars is allocated towards addressing homelessness with the homeless reduction plan…
