A Davenport man will appear in court later this month after bagging unpaid items and skip-scanning $144 in items at Walmart.
A deputy responded to a theft in progress at Walmart, located at 550 U.S. Hwy. 27, Clermont, around 3:50 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, according to a case report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. An asset protection agent had stopped 28-year-old Tajamar Hyatt after he passed all points of sale with $144.20 in stolen merchandise.
Security footage showed Hyatt putting a shower curtain, vacuum and record past the scanner near the bags. He then bagged them with no intention of scanning. He also skip-scanned one green bowl out of three, one tiki post out of two, a Minute Maid juice and a Daily’s alcoholic drink. There were a few other miscellaneous items he did not scan, as well, but he was stopped by the agent as he went to leave, the report said…
