A new roundabout is coming to Edgewater Drive

On Tuesday, September 9, the City of Orlando hosted a public meeting about the upcoming $26 million construction plan on and along Edgewater Drive. City officials detailed the first phase of four: to install a roundabout on the intersection with Lakeview Street.

Built on the foundation of previous projects and studies conducted since the early 2000s, the hope is to increase pedestrian safety and lower the speed limit in the area. On Edgewater Drive, this would be done through adding medians with trees and foliage, raised brick crosswalks and wider sidewalks. The design for Phase A, the roundabout, will be finalized in the spring of next year, with construction beginning at the end of 2026.
