ORLANDO, Fla. (WFLA) — State investigators said they concur with a Universal Orlando Resort internal memo that said an Epic Universe roller coaster was functioning properly when a rider became unresponsive and later died.

“Our internal findings to date confirm that the ride systems functioned as intended, equipment was intact at the ride’s start, throughout the duration of the ride and upon the ride vehicle’s return to the station, and our Team Members followed procedures,” Universal Orlando Resorts President and COO Karen Irwin said in an email to staff, obtained by NBC affiliate WESH.
