Suspect puts nicotine patches into plastic bag without paying for them at Walmart

A Winter Garden man was arrested for theft after trying to leave Walmart without paying for nicotine patches.

A deputy responded to Walmart, located at 550 U.S. Hwy. 27, Clermont, regarding a theft complaint around 3:20 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. An asset protection associate had stopped 63-year-old Abdelaziz Mooly Drissi from leaving the store without paying for $31.37 nicotine patches.

Video footage of the incident showed Drissi coming into the store through the grocery entrance with a cart. He carried with him a single grocery bag that he later used to conceal the nicotine patches. He made no attempts to scan them at self-checkout, the report said.

A criminal history check revealed he was convicted of first-degree petit theft in Orange County on Nov. 26, 1990, the report said…
