A Kissimmee man was arrested for theft after trying to leave Walmart with $80 in unpaid items.
A security camera at Walmart, located at 550 U.S. Hwy. 27, Clermont, recorded 39-year-old Byron Fonseca using a self-checkout register around 4:05 p.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
He stacked items on top of each other and only scanned one of them before bagging both. He also completely bypassed the scanner to bag several things. Once he was done, he left without paying for the unscanned items. Loss prevention stopped him at the doors where they were able to recover $80.32 in unpaid merchandise, the report said.
A check of Fonseca’s criminal history revealed four unconfirmed warrants out of New Jersey for larceny with no out-of-state extradition. He also had a prior theft charge out of New Jersey with a conviction date of March 11, the report said…
