A Leesburg man was arrested on drug charges when an officer found methamphetamine during a traffic stop near Publix.
A deputy stopped 59-year-old Robert Ehrhardt Theune in a white 2006 Ford E350 box truck in Leesburg around 7:20 a.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle had failed to stop completely at a stop sign on Moore Street and County Road 473, leading to the traffic stop turning into Publix at Shoppes of Lake Village.
Theune handed over his registration and insurance. The deputy asked for consent to search the vehicle, and he agreed to open the back. He stated there was no reason to look, and the deputy let him know it was up to him. He still opened the back, the report said.
A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a small black Hyper Tough tool bag behind the driver’s seat. Inside was a black sunglasses case containing a clear glass smoking device. There was also a black velvet jewelry case with a small piece of tin foil, the report said…
