A Leesburg man and woman were arrested after a deputy took note of their suspicious behavior.
A deputy learned of a suspicious vehicle in the Ironwood Avenue area of Leesburg around 11:55 a.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. He went toward the listed location to assist the investigation, later found to involve 43-year-old Stephan Dale Wahl and 68-year-old Debra Kay Wahl.
As the deputy passed the area, he noticed Stephan standing in the front yard near a green Ford Explorer. He saw the patrol vehicle and immediately turned to run in the opposite direction. Believing criminal activity was afoot, the deputy made a U-turn and drove back toward the residence, the report said.
He passed by again and observed Debra standing in the yard. She looked nervous and kept prolonged eye contact with the patrol vehicle. The deputy then continued down the avenue, turned left onto Crossen Street and positioned his patrol vehicle partially concealed behind nearby shrubbery to monitor the area, the report said…
