Homeless man arrested after found sleeping on city property in Clermont

A homeless man was arrested for trespassing when an officer spotted him sleeping at the Highlander Hut in in Clermont for the third time in three months.

An officer spotted 45-year-old Ricardo Arturo Sibauste Calvo at Highlander Hut, a city-owned rental facility for social events with waterfront access, around 12:20 a.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Clermont Police Department. He was sleeping in the stage area of the closed city building.

The officer recognized him from previous encounters where he was sleeping on city property. On Aug. 17, he was sleeping near the stage area on city property and was given a verbal warning that he could not sleep there. But he was there again on Sept. 4, sleeping in the stage area, the report said.

Sibauste Calvo had been given a trespass warning, which he stated he understood. Within a three-month period, he had been given two warnings not to sleep on the property, the report said…
