New law opens door for charter schools to move into Orange County public school campuses

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A new Florida law is making it easier for charter schools to move into public school buildings.

And now a couple of new charters are looking to open in Orange County.

Senate Bill 2510 went into effect in July. The bill authorizes a “School of Hope” to co-locate with another public school in any facility. It requires school districts to allow charter schools to use all or part of an underused, vacant or surplus facility — at no cost — under state Board of Education rules…
