Woman from Colombia allegedly swaps tags for cheaper prices at Walmart

A woman from Colombia was arrested for theft after allegedly replacing tags on several items to avoid paying full price at Walmart.

A deputy responded to a theft complaint at Walmart, located at 550 U.S. Hwy. 27, Clermont, around 2:25 p.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Security cameras had captured 25-year-old Alana Garcia-Guerrero of Davenport skip-scanning 15 items.

Asset protection explained she was at a self-checkout register when she reached into her grocery cart for a pack of steak. She then put a different price tag on the package and scanned it at a lower price before bagging it. An employee confronted her as she tried to leave, ultimately recovering $56.32 in merchandise, the report said…
