Florida Man Driving Stolen Truck Flees, Hides in Swamp 2 Days With His Gun and Meth

Another week, another wild Florida man story. This one includes a stolen truck, meth, and a good old-fashioned swamp stakeout.

Earl Dorey, 37, was one of three men spotted driving a stolen truck north of Orlando. When police tried to pull the truck over, Dorey had other ideas. He bailed and sprinted into De Leon Springs State Park.

The Volusia Sheriff’s Office released bodycam footage of the chase. When police officers finally caught up with Dorey, he pointed a gun at them. Then he pointed it at himself. When they backed off, he ran deeper into the state park.

But this is Florida. Where there’s a spring, there’s a swamp. And soon, Dorey was up to his waist in more than trouble. In the footage, a deputy yells, “He’s in the water…Dude, just give the f— up!”
