Orlando, FL – Drivers across Orange County are being warned to expect heightened enforcement this weekend as a Special Event Zone goes into effect surrounding Florida’s annual #ClassicWeekend. The zone begins at 6 p.m. Thursday, November 20, and will remain active through 8 a.m. Monday, November 24, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say the measure is designed to prevent unpermitted gatherings and dangerous traffic congestion during the popular event. The affected routes include:

  • Colonial Drive from Tampa Avenue to Hiawassee Road
  • John Young Parkway from SR 408 to WD Judge Road
  • Old Winter Garden Road from John Young Parkway to Ferguson Drive

According to Florida law, Special Event Zones allow law enforcement to impose stricter penalties during periods of increased risk from large, unpermitted gatherings. Within these zones, all traffic fines are doubled, and vehicles may be impounded for violations or infractions
