A Bradenton man was arrested after crashing through a gate at Windsor Cay Resort, leaving thousands of dollars in damage without stopping to look.
A deputy responded to a hit-and-run crash at the gate of Windsor Cay Resort, located at 1217 Emerald Row Wy., Clermont, around 12:25 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. A security guard advised that 23-year-old Travis Devon Hardy hit the gate’s drop arm in a white SUV, causing $3,000 in damage, and fled.
Law enforcement later found Hardy at 16336 Saint Kitts Cir., Clermont, where he was identified as the driver of a Hyundai utility vehicle by on-sight security. He tried to drive through the gate as the drop arm came down. He ultimately admitted he hit the drop arm and left the scene without stopping to check the damage, the report said.
During an interview, the deputy asked Hardy for his driver’s license but was instead given a learners permit. This had been suspended since Aug. 23, 2021, the report said…
