The Planning, Environmental, and Development Services (PEDS) Department of Orange County, Florida, has released its first departmentwide Strategic Management Plan. The plan outlines a five-year strategy from 2025 to 2030. Its goals include improving service delivery, streamlining internal processes, and increasing transparency for residents and businesses.
The plan was developed in response to Orange County’s rapid growth, which has led to higher demand for services such as permitting, environmental protection, and affordable housing. PEDS Director Tanya Wilson stated that the department must adapt to meet these changing needs. The department has nearly 600 employees across seven divisions, including Planning, Zoning, Building Safety, and Environmental Protection. The strategy incorporates feedback from staff, elected officials, stakeholders, and the community.
The Strategic Management Plan identifies five main focus areas: Relationship Building, Process Improvement, Talent Acquisition and Retention, Innovation and Technology, and Communication.
