APOPKA, Fla. — City employees in Apopka filled the commission chambers Wednesday afternoon eager to hear a decision on the changes to their pension plan.
In a unanimous vote — with Mayor Bryan Nelson abstaining due to being a general employee himself — commissioners approved an increase to general employee pension benefits.
“I’m just glad for this administration because the last one that we had just sort of sat on it, sat on it. And within the last 18 months, we’ve been working on it. And you saw what happened today.
