14 sickened in Legionnaires’ disease outbreak linked to central Florida gym: reports

OCOEE, Fla. (WFLA) — Over a dozen people contracted Legionnaires’ disease in an outbreak linked to a gym in central Florida, officials confirmed to local media outlets this week.

Gymgoers at Crunch Fitness, located at 1560 E. Silver Star Road in Ocoee, told the Orlando Sentinel and WFTV that they were diagnosed with the respiratory infection after working out there.

State Sen. Carlos Guillermo Smith (D-Orlando) requested details from the Florida Department of Health after the outlets reported on the potential outbreak. Officials did not name the gym, but said a spa was shut down after the facility was inspected…
