FHP continues to investigate Orange County hit-and-run crash that killed Leesburg man

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla.—The car believed to be involved in an Orange County hit-and-crash that killed a Leesburg man Monday night is in the custody of the Florida Highway Patrol, troopers said Saturday.

A 36-year-old Orlando man was driving a 2003 Honda Accord eastbound in the center lane of Silver Star Road near Le Harve Boulevard when he struck a 33-year-old Leesburg man who was walking in the eastbound lanes around 11:15 p.m., FHP said. The Leesburg man was not in a marked crosswalk.

The Orlando man stopped, and while he was assisting the Leesburg man, they were both struck by a 2024 Chevrolet Malibu. Witnesses told FHP the Malibu’s driver exited the car, checked the damage and fled the scene in the Malibu…
