Suspected thief returns to Walmart to find phone left behind during attempted heist

A Davenport woman was arrested for theft after trying to leave Walmart with $127 in unpaid merchandise.

Surveillance vidoes caught 38-year-old Ashley Angelina Guinn walking into Walmart, located at 550 U.S. Hwy 27, Clermont, on Monday, Dec. 8, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

She was seen puting numerous items in her cart and bringing them to a self-checkout register. However, she did not scan $127.23 worth of merchandise. When loss prevention confronted her outside the store, she fled the area and left the items behind, the report said.

Guinn came back to the store Tuesday morning to find her phone, which had also been left behind. She was subsequently escorted back inside due to loss prevention asking she be trespassed. A check of her criminal history followed, revealing a petit theft conviction in 2012, a felony grand theft conviction in 2016 and a theft of utilities conviction in 2016, the report said…
