Safety, goals, and making history: A chat with Apopka’s first female police chief

APOPKA, Fla. — If you ask Apopka’s Chief of Police Lovetta Quinn-Henry when her career began, she’d laugh and say her first role was a safety patrol in sixth grade.

“I do believe that’s where I really found a joy to being a leader and helping others,” she said. “So, helping my fellow classmates cross the street in front of the school seemed to have been the beginning.”
