Mother with young children terrified when stranger demands to be let in

A Sanford man was arrested after allegedly breaking into a woman’s home and telling police it was due to someone trying to kill him.

Officers responded to an undisclosed residence in Leesburg regarding a suspicious person, later identified as 33-year-old Marvin Eugene Cotton, around 11:35 p.m. Dec. 20, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

The caller advised that Cotton knocked on his front door, stated he was going to be kidnapped and asked for the homeowner to call the police. However, he left before law enforcement got to the area. They then reviewed the doorbell camera footage and saw Cotton wearing a white sweatshirt, the report said.

While investigating this incident, the LPD got another call a few minutes later for a burglary happening one block away. The caller described a man in a white hooded sweatshirt breaking into her back porch, the report said…
