Drunk driver with restricted license stopped for speeding after visit with girlfriend

An Orlando man was arrested for DUI with a restricted license on the way back from visiting his girlfriend.

An officer saw 31-year-old Ganesh Ragoonanan speeding in a white passenger car on State Road 50 close to 4 p.m. Dec. 21, according to an arrest report from the Clermont Police Department. Radar confirmed he was going 88mph in a 50-mph zone, leading to a traffic stop at the Headquarter Mazda dealership, located at 17500 SR 50.

When told the reason for the stop, Ragoonanan stated, “Yeah, I got on it there.” His reason for the excessive speed was that he was supposed to be in Orlando by 4 p.m., and it was less than 10 minutes until 4 p.m. at the time. He had just left his girlfriend’s house and was headed back to his place, the report said.

But the officer noticed his license had the restriction of BPO, which meant he could only drive for business purposes. He also heard Ragoonanan’s speech slurred, and when asked about it, he stated he had “two” drinks earlier. Shortly after, he started chewing gum and sprayed cologne or perfume, the report said…
