Game Over In Florida: ‘Operation Calvin Coolidge’ Shutters Lake County Gambling Dens

State gaming regulators cracked down on illicit casinos in Lake County on Thursday, sweeping through three separate storefronts to confiscate hundreds of slot machines and piles of cash.

Dubbed “Operation Calvin Coolidge,” the coordinated raids targeted businesses in Umatilla and Leesburg that officials say were operating as illegal gambling houses. The Florida Gaming Control Commission (FGCC), acting on intelligence reports and community complaints, executed search warrants that resulted in the seizure of 231 illegal gaming devices and more than $157,000 in suspected gambling proceeds.
