If you drive down South Orange Avenue in the SoDo area and look closely, you might notice some orange or green starting to peek back through the pavement.
The decorative crosswalks installed by FDOT as part of the Orange Avenue road project and then painted over by FDOT a month later are wearing down, and bits of the original designs are beginning to show again. Faint shapes. Hints of color. Just enough to catch your eye.
This stretch of Orange Avenue was part of a long, drawn-out FDOT road project that wrapped up last year. When it finally finished, the agency celebrated the upgrades, including new lighting and decorative crosswalks, as part of a safety-focused improvement. We wrote about it at the time.
