Orlando principal arrested for driving with suspended license

DAVENPORT, Florida — A Polk County deputy sheriff arrested a 47-year-old Orlando woman after a traffic stop revealed she was driving with a suspended license.

The incident occurred around 8:15 a.m. on Sunday, February 15, 2026, when the deputy stopped a gray Nissan SUV near Ridgewood Lakes and U.S. Hwy 27 in Davenport. The driver, identified as Chenia Thate, of Orlando, was informed that her license was suspended due to lack of insurance, according to a press release from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Thate, who is the principal at Hillcrest Elementary School in Lake Wales, was found to have an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court regarding the insurance issue.
