An Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested Saturday after the Apopka Police Department filed a domestic-violence charge, prompting the agency to pull him from patrol while both criminal and administrative reviews play out. Officials identified the deputy as Shawn Ellis, who was booked into the Orange County Jail. The sheriff’s office said Ellis was hired in September 2024 and had been working in the Uniform Patrol Division before his reassignment.
As reported by WESH, the Apopka Police Department brought the domestic-violence charge, and jail records show Ellis was booked into the county detention center on Saturday. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the arrest, adding that Ellis has been relieved of all law-enforcement duties and moved to administrative work while the case proceeds.
