An Orlando man is facing felony charges after officers found an emaciated, flea‑infested dog abandoned inside a house following an eviction. Responders said the animal, a black Great Dane mix, was so underweight it struggled to stand when they arrived.
Eviction call led animal services to a home
Orange County Animal Services was called to a house in the 2400 block of Dellwood Drive after a report that a dog had been left inside a bedroom following an eviction. An animal‑services officer noted a strong smell of urine, piles of feces, bowls with some food, an empty water bowl, and clinic paperwork, later recording that the dog had a “copious amount of fleas.”
Supervisors told the officer to contact Orlando police, who said they ultimately tied 34‑year‑old Benjamin Rojas to the dog and the address. Rojas was arrested yesterday and booked into the Orange County jail on a felony aggravated animal‑cruelty charge along with several misdemeanor counts, according to ClickOrlando.
