Starting this week, Osceola County students will soon have access to new e-bike safety training as district leaders respond to a rise in use of the devices by young riders.
The Osceola School District, in partnership with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Christopher A. Blackmon and MetroPlan Orlando, has launched a pilot program aimed at educating students on e-bike safety and traffic rules. The program is currently available at Celebration K-8 and Celebration High School.
“We selected those two schools because of the high number of e-bikes and some traffic crashes that have occurred out there,” said Lester Yeates, Director of Safety, Security, and Emergency Management for the district. “But we are hoping, as it is a pilot, that we may be able to move forward and expand the training throughout the district.”…
