Oviedo Ex-Teacher Busted In Alleged Grooming Of 13-Year-Old Student

Former Tuskawilla Middle School teacher Daniel Lelievre was arrested Monday after investigators say he groomed and sexually assaulted a 13-year-old student, following years of secret contact that police describe as calculated grooming. He is scheduled to appear in Seminole County court on Tuesday afternoon to face the charges.

Where the case centers

Tuskawilla Middle is a Seminole County Public Schools campus in Oviedo. The campus is listed among district schools on the official Title IX coordinator roster maintained by the Seminole County School District.

What police allege

Oviedo police say Lelievre began grooming the girl several years ago while he was dating her mother and allegedly worked to get the child placed in more of his classes. Investigators allege he kept a dedicated drawer in his classroom desk for the students’ personal items, including perfume, and used fake email accounts and websites to keep communications under the radar.

According to police, Lelievre even taught the child Morse code so they could disguise messages. Investigators further allege sexual contact occurred at his home and say the case escalated this month, culminating in his arrest and the release of bodycam footage, as reported by WFTV.

Lelievre is no longer listed as a district employee, and the Seminole County School District initially looked into related allegations in 2024. Officials have not publicly explained why the criminal probe advanced this month, according to WFTV…
