NEWS: Union Claims Disney World Lawsuit Could Cost Locals Money

On April 2nd, 2026, over 100 Orlando locals attended a Town Hall to discuss the impact of property tax lawsuits filed by The Walt Disney Company.

The lawsuits were initially filed in December 2025, and community members are now discussing how they are financially impacting local schools and families. The town hall was hosted by UNITE HERE and the Orange County Classroom Teachers Association.

The event allowed for speakers and community members to raise concerns about how Disney’s lawsuits against Orange County are impacting multiple areas of the community. The lawsuits against the county are seeking refunds on property taxes that Disney was charged by the state. To help fight the lawsuits, Orange County Public Schools set aside $119 million dollars.
