A quiet Kissimmee neighborhood turned into an active crime scene Thursday afternoon after a 4-year-old boy was shot and rushed to the hospital, where he was placed in intensive care. Deputies described the incident as an accidental shooting. The child, who suffered a single gunshot wound, was later reported to be in stable condition. Authorities have not released his name or explained how the shooting happened.

In a release from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, deputies said the shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. along Amber Way in Kissimmee. The boy was taken to a hospital with what officials called significant injuries. As reported by ClickOrlando, deputies later characterized the child’s condition as stable on Thursday evening.
