Orlando Winds Whip Up As Fire Watch Puts Region On Edge

Cloudy skies and a mild start across the Orlando area have temperatures sitting near 70°F this morning, while northeast winds are already on the move. By this afternoon, the area should top out near 79°F, with gusts strong enough to turn loose patio furniture and umbrellas into projectiles. Tonight will be mostly clear and comfortable, with lows around 61°F.

Afternoon Winds Pick Up

Northeast winds of about 15 mph this morning are expected to ramp up to roughly 15-20 mph this afternoon, with frequent gusts to 25-30 mph, especially along the coast and through the I-4 corridor. The National Weather Service in Melbourne notes that the gusty conditions could push around high-profile vehicles and send unsecured outdoor items flying during the afternoon commute.
