An Orlando man was arrested when deputies caught him driving a semi without a Commercial Drivers License.
Deputies responded to 7-Eleven at 2395 CR 470 in Lake Panasoffkee to assist the Orange County Sheriff’s Office around 11 p.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A tip from the other agency described a red semi without a trailer, and they arrived at the gas station to see a white 2006 Volvo semi-truck beside it at the fuel pumps. The white semi was later found to be driven by 30-year-old Harold Blanco.
When the drivers noticed the deputies, both trucks abruptly left the parking lot, seemingly to avoid law enforcement. One of the deputies stopped Blanco and noticed his semi had no visible tag. They then checked his driving history and learned he did not possess a valid commercial driver’s license. He had a Florida class E license with only a CDL learners permit, which expired on May 13, 2022, the report said.
No enforcement action was taken for this until about 1:15 a.m. Friday, when another deputy saw the same semi-truck without a tag trying to leave 7-Eleven. It was further confirmed that while the vehicle had an active registration, it had expired on Dec. 31, 2021, the report said…
