Johnson County prosecutor says retailers are first focus as Kansas kratom ban takes effect

JOHNSON COUNTY, Kan. (KCTV) – As Kansas’ ban on kratom and high‑potency 7‑OH products takes effect, Johnson County District Attorney Steve Howe said his office’s early enforcement focus will be on retailers who keep selling the products.

Under the new law, which goes into effect at 12:01 a.m. on July 1, possession of kratom and 7‑OH will be a level 4 felony offense. Selling would be a level 3 felony offense.
