TYLER, Texas ( KETK ) — Patrick Mahomes Sr. — the father of Super Bowl-bound Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomes — has been arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated in Texas.
Jail records from Smith County show Mahomes, 53, was arrested by police in Tyler, about 100 miles east of Dallas, on Saturday. He was released on Sunday after posting a $10,000 bond.
Additional details about Mahomes Sr.’s arrest were not immediately available, a police spokesperson told Nexstar’s KETK.
Online records from Smith County show Mahomes Sr. pleaded guilty to his second driving while intoxicated offense in 2019. After pleading guilty, he was sentenced to 40 days in the county jail and served that time on weekends from February 2019 to February 2020.
Under Texas laws , a person convicted of a third offense of impaired driving could face a $10,000 fine, two to 10 years in prison, and see their driver’s license suspended for up to two years. A state fine of $3,000, $4,500, or $6,000 could also be imposed.
