Man’s body found in field in rural Jackson County

GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. — The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a 39-year-old man was found dead in a field over the weekend.

Jackson County Sheriff Darryl Forté said deputies were called around 11:15 a.m. Saturday to Duncan Road and Sweeney Road, outside Grain Valley, for a call of a body in a ditch.

When deputies arrived, they found the man just off the roadway in a field. Detectives believe the man’s body was dropped off in the field.

The man has since been identified as 39-year-old Charles Stutts, of Kansas City.

This discovery Saturday comes just one day after another body was reported on Friday near Buckner Tarsney and Hanna roads, about 6 miles away, outside Buckner.

Officials do not suspect foul play in that Buckner Tarsney case, and Forté stressed they do not believe the two cases are connected in any way.
