Man sentenced to life in prison in 2018 killing of Olathe 17-year-old

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Another person has been sentenced in the killing of a 17-year-old boy from Olathe last year .

The Kansas District Attorney’s Office announced on September 5 that Malik Delva has been sentenced to life in prison with no possibility of parole until he completes a 25-year sentence or a “Hard 25.”

This sentence is from a charge of first-degree murder. Delva was also charged, and sentenced, for distribution of marijuana. This charge resulted in a sentence of 154 months in prison. The court ordered that these sentences run consecutively.

Delva was found guilty by a jury earlier this year, on March 7, 2024.

The incident that the charges stem from occurred on June 15, 2018, in the 100 block of South Clairborne Road.
