River Market businesses are the latest target for break ins

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two local businesses were broken into in the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 11. The business owners spoke to FOX4 about the circumstances they’re facing.

Wednesday was an unfamiliar sight for Donutology founder Andrew Cameron; there was no one working or picking up treats from the popular River Market location.

“I get that early morning phone call that every business owner dreads,” said Cameron.

“And it’s from one of your employees saying there’s been a break-in last night.”

The break-in was caught on video. Around three in the morning on Wednesday, two people can be seen in the security footage.

Since the doors were locked, they smashed the order window, climbed inside, found a safe and headed out the same way they came in.

The total repair costs, plus what the thieves got away with, totaled $3,000.

$3,000 is huge,” explained Cameron.

“Especially for a business like ours. We make our money one donut at a time, that’s a lot of donuts.”
