Andy Reid’s halftime message is exactly what Chiefs Kingdom have been wanting to hear

In the first half of Sunday Night’s matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Atlanta Falcons, one star player wasn’t getting any targets.

The connection between Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce has proven to be deadly for any opposing team, but to start the 2024 season, they just haven’t been able to make much happen.

Specifically, in the first half of the game, Kelce only had two receptions for four yards.

Four yards?!?

When you have a nine-time Pro Bowl tight end on your team, you need to get him the ball more.

And Chiefs head coach Andy Reid completely agreed.

He told NBC at halftime that they needed to get Kelce more involved. And clearly that was also conveyed to the team.

In the Chiefs’ first play of the second half, Mahomes located Kelce for a nine yard completion. And then just a few moments later, his pass to the tight end gave the Chiefs an additional 17 yards on their scoring drive.

In just a few minutes, he went from four yards to 30 yards. It’s still not enough for someone so talented, but it’s a solid start.
