MISSION, Kan. (KCTV) – A 19-year-old man from Grandview, Missouri, was sentenced to life in prison for his role in an April 2022 murder in Mission, Kansas. On Thursday, a Johnson County judge sentenced 19-year-old Deon Austin to life in prison with no possibility of parole until he serves 50 years following a jury’s finding that Austin was guilty of first-degree murder. Austin was also sentenced to 43 months for a charge of aggravated battery with great bodily harm. The sentences are to run consecutively.
