Kansas City restaurant adds egg surcharge for customers to help battle high prices

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The owner of a Kansas City restaurant made a tough decision and followed the lead of some popular chains.

Scott Downey, Jr. owns “The Restaurant KC.” He made the decision to implement a surcharge because egg prices are record highs according to the latest Consumer Price Index.

In January, a dozen eggs cost an average of nearly $5. That compares to a year ago when shoppers paid about half that, or $2.50 a dozen…
