Suspected Kan. fentanyl dealer jailed after 6 hour standoff

WYANDOTTE COUNTY —The Kansas City, Kansas Police Department and Kansas Highway Patrol arrested two individuals, one on multiple felony accusations after they barricaded themselves in a home in 100 block of S. 17th St. for six and a half hours over the weekend.

Shortly after 3a.m. March 8, KCKPD Special Operations Unit responded to the home to assist KHP in serving a warrant, according to a media release.

Despite numerous commands,36-year-old Javier Silva, a resident of Kansas City, Kan. and 51-year-old Salvadore Contreras, Jr., a resident of the home, refused to exit.

At approximately 4:42a.m., Silva exited on his own and was taken into custody without incident. Then, at approximately 9:11a.m., Contreras, also exited and was taken into custody without further incident…
