Scam Alert: ‘Unauthorized individuals’ impersonating Kansas City BPU employees

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) – The Kansas City Board of Public Utilities is warning residents of a new scam targeting residential homes.

According to BPU, they have received several reports of scammers impersonating BPU employees to try and approach people’s homes.

BPU issued a reminder that legitimate employees will always be driving marked company cars, wearing branded clothing and/or hard hats and carrying ID badges. They said to always check that a person has those identifiers when they approach your home. If they do not, contact local law enforcement…
