Kansas City, MO – A powerful weather system is set to bring high winds and winter conditions to Missouri through midweek, with gusts exceeding 60 mph and possible snowfall in northern parts of the state.
According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City, strong south-southwest winds will persist Tuesday night before shifting to intense north-northwest gusts Wednesday as a cold front moves in. Wind advisories are in effect from the Kansas City metro to Highway 65, with a high wind warning issued for areas north through Kirksville from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday.
Temperatures are expected to drop rapidly behind the front, leading to rain transitioning into snow across northwest Missouri. While accumulations may be minimal, strong winds could create blowing snow and hazardous travel conditions.
