Kansas teen sentenced for bringing gun to school

JOHNSON COUNTY —A teen who admitted bringing a gun to a high school in Kansas is going to remain in custody.

On Wednesday, Judge Brenda Cameron sentenced 16-year-old Derek Reyna-Mendez to 12 months in the juvenile correctional facility, according to the Johnson Count District Attorney’s office.
