To know Andy Lock meant you knew his genuine nature. And his gentle nature.
It means you felt just a little bit special when he stopped at your table at Third Street Social or Pearl Tavern to say hi, check in on how things are going and ask about your kids, your job, your life. Sure, Andy was playing the role of a restauranteur, but hearing how your burger was cooked or, for the 100th time, or how amazing the Brussels are, were not topics at the top of his list.
So, it’s not surprising that there was a collective sound of stunning shock heard around Lee’s Summit this week when we learned Andy Lock had passed.
Being around Andy at his grand openings of Third Street Social and Pearl Tavern meant you were around a man absolutely in his element. On his game in a way most of us can only aspire to.
