Second man pleads guilty to bank fraud charge after using social media to find recruits

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A 22-year-old man is facing up to 30 years in prison for his role in a fraud scheme, the United States Department of Justice said Tuesday.

According to a press release, Fremon Reaves, Jr. pleaded guilty on April 8, 2025, to one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud. This comes just over a week after his co-defendant, 30-year-old Gerald Humphreys Jr., pleaded guilty to the same charge in late March.

The men’s convictions stemmed from a plan that was first uncovered in July 2022. An investigator at a local bank contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigations in Kansas City with reports of an alleged fraud scheme, and it was later determined that one other bank was being targeted as well…
