Sunday’s severe threat
Kansas City is near the edge of a level 2-3/5 severe risk for Sunday, but it’s conditional. Storms will be moving east out of Kansas and if they can hold together, they could produce severe weather in western Missouri. The biggest threats include damaging winds, hail and heavy rain.
St. Louis has a lower-level threat, with storms having to traverse the state. Timing or eastern Missouri looks to be later, during the overnight and early morning hours on Monday.
Monday’s severe threat
Monday looks to be the more likely day that we’ll have to deal with severe storms. While Sunday’s risk is contingent on a few different factors, Monday most of the ingridients we need for robust severe storms will be in place. All modes of severe weather will be possible, including tornadoes, large hail and damaging wind. Kansas City is in the level 3/5 risk while St. Louis is in the level 2/5 risk area. With this event being on Monday, time for more analysis, and the chance for an upgrade in the threat level is possible.
With the severe weather threat, rounds of rain could lead to areas of flooding. We will continue to monitor the weather situation and update you as details become clear.
